The Blackburn Vet has recently welcomed two new team members, Carmen and Monica. Carmen has been volunteering in animal rescue from a young age and this set her on the path to becoming a Veterinary Nurse. She currently fosters kittens and has two beautiful cats of her own at home. Carmen has spent time in South Africa working with both domestic and wild animals as well as completing a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bio-science from La Trobe University. Carmen started her nursing career in 2017 and came on board as a Trainee Nurse at The Blackburn Vet part-time in September. She is looking forward to learning all aspects of nursing, with a passion for surgery and intensive care. Carmen will be beginning her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in mid-2018.
Monica has always had a passion for working with animals and started volunteer work at a Veterinary practice from a young age. She started dog grooming for a year and also spent time overseas volunteering at an elephant conservation park. In 2016 Monica started a Veterinary Nurse Traineeship at one of our sister clinics, where she started working full-time. In December 2017 Monica took the opportunity to transfer over to us and is loving being here. Monica has a special interest in surgical nursing and is currently running our Puppy School classes. She loves all animals big and small but has a special spot in her heart for senior pets. Monica is currently completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is looking forward to becoming a fully qualified nurse.
Please make both our new team members feel welcome here at the Blackburn Vet.
